Compassionate Care Advocate
Meet Our Founder
Some callings are chosen. Others are forged.
Chaplain Kelvin Foster’s was forged across three decades of crisis, service, and hard-won healing in firehouses, on Navy deployments, in VA offices, on deployments around the country with the American Red Cross, and at the bedsides of dying veterans at a VA hospice. His life is not just the story behind Presence Works LLC™. It is the mission.
Built From the Inside Out
Chaplain Foster began as a Firefighter EMT (1981–1988), responding to traumatic calls years before peer support existed in the fire service. He carried what so many still carry today: silence as the only available coping strategy. After leaving the fire service, he served as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman and in 1997, was among 400 corpsmen mobilized after Korean Air Flight 801 crashed on Guam, killing 228 of 245 people on board. Trained by the NTSB and American Red Cross to provide peer support to a military community of 35,000, he experienced firsthand the difference that structured, trauma-informed presence makes in the wake of tragedy.
He later served veterans as a VBA Case Manager and spent three years as a peer support volunteer in a VA Hospice seeing the irreplaceable healing power of safety, connection, and compassionate presence.
Chaplain Foster carries an ACEs score of nine and a personal diagnosis of Complex PTSD. His own journey through trauma and post-traumatic growth is the lived foundation beneath every principle in the PRESENCE™ and ATTUNE™ frameworks.
